DTN COMMENTS:  A light trade is being reported in parts of Nebraska at 
$410, $7 higher than last week's weighted average. So far, the South 
remains very quiet. A light trade developed on Monday and Tuesday, with 
Southern live sales marked at $260, $3 higher than last week's weighted 
averages, Northern dressed deals have been at $400, $2 to $3 lower than 
last week's weighted averages. 

Today's slaughter totaled 108,000 head, even with last week, but 12,000 
lower than a year ago. Cattle futures closed sharply higher on both live 
(up 260 to 540) and feeder (142 to 437 higher) contracts. Beef cutouts are 
expected to close lower with light to moderate box movement.
